We are thrilled to announce our 27th full artistic season, “Absolutely Austin!” Last year, we focused on the art of collaboration… and after a full season, we’ve realized that exceptional partnerships are essential to the success of Panoramic Voices’ programming. This year, we are excited to once again collaborate with some of Austin’s finest musicians. “Absolutely Austin” is a celebration of the art and artists that make our city so very special, and a nod to the roots we continue to grow in this vibrant community.

We’re offering increased singing opportunities, too! As always, we will have four core projects, each of which will accommodate up to 130-50 singers. Additionally, we will be offering “mini-projects” with fewer rehearsals and a slightly different format. We’re also working hard to plan various one-off events: join us next month for our “CRASH chorus,” a one-day, no-commitment singing workshop and in December for our 2nd-annual “Light it Up!” community Christmas carol sing-along/play-along at Central Machine Works!

Our registration process has not changed; singers can sign up on a per-project basis and are not required to commit to the full season. This year, we are also adding the option to register for rehearsals only! This will allow us to accommodate more singers on our projects while better meeting the needs of those with busy schedules, performance anxiety, or other concerns relating to concerts.Registration will open for each project approximately 3 months prior to the performance date. Please check back frequently, sign up for our emails, or follow us on Facebook & Instagram to stay apprised of current offerings!

THAT’S SO NINETIES

WITH DENSITY512
October 4, 2024 - ACC Highland
October 5, 2024 - Regal Rooms

Join Density512 and Panoramic Voices for a quirky-cool trip down memory lane. That’s So Nineties will feature a broad array of popular songs from 1990–1999 re-imagined for choir and chamber orchestra. Our first performance will even be set in the iconic ACC Highland Campus, formerly the Highland Mall! That’s right, here’s your chance to belt BRITTANY at the base of a mall escalator, all while accompanied by some of Austin’s finest instrumentalists. (A portion of Saturday’s proceeds will benefit ACC Highland’s Music Department!)  Registration opens in July.

CEREMONY OF CAROLS

WITH CHASKI
December 14, 2024 - Austin Public Library (Central)
December 15, 2024 - Austin Public Library (Central)

Our December program features the dynamic flute and harp duo, Chaski! Britten’s Ceremony of Carols will be the centerpiece of this concert. Other exceptional holiday repertoire for flute, harp, percussion, and choir will elevate and round out the program! Join us at the incredible downtown library and sing a choral classic, as well as original music by Chaski flutist (and regular Panoramic singer) Adrienne Inglis. Registration opens in September.

LORE

WITH GOLIATH WAS BIGFOOT
February 13, 2025 - Central Machine Works
February 15, 2025 - Texas Science & Natural History Museum

The new year kicks off with a deep dive into myths of the land & sea… and perhaps even some Austin-local lore. This unique collaboration features local music collective Goliath Was Bigfoot, whose purpose is to engage in conceptual explorations of folk tales, urban legends, ghost stories, conspiracy theories, myths, and the possible origin of the Sasquatch in the Book of Samuel. This short-form program will be offered 3 times—once at our favorite local brewery, then twice, back-to-back, at the newly renovated Science & Natural History Museum on UT’s campus—and will feature a truly unique blend of of contemporary choral, indie-classical, and crossover repertoire accompanied by a wide variety of instruments (some of which may or may not be invented & handmade). Registration opens in December.

TO THE STRONGEST

WITH MARU HARU
May 31, 2025 - Austin Public Library (Central)
June 1, 2025 - Vuka Austin (North)

We’ll close our official season by kicking-off another important one: PRIDE. Panoramic is thrilled to partner with this exceptional Austin-based indie rock band, whose songs portray Asian American and queer experiences, making peace with family and society, and moving along with empathy. With a full complement of strings, keyboard, and percussion, Maru Haru will be the perfect collaborator for our large choir, which will both provide choral accompaniment to the band’s original pieces and perform additional works by LGBTQIA+ composers/arrangers. Join us for a PRIDE celebration featuring a band we know you’ll be hearing a lot from soon. Registration opens in February.

ONE-OFF OPPORTUNITIES

CRASH CHORUS

Sunday, July 7, 2024 - 4:45pm - First Street Studio

Come feel the power of singing in a choir… no auditions, no performances, no rehearsing. We’ll gather and learn just a piece or two while exploring singing and movement. We’ll belt our hearts out, just for the fun of it. More information and registration at the link below.

LIGHT iT UP

Sunday, December 1, 2024 - 11am–4pm - Central Machine Works Brewery

All are welcome at our second-annual “Light it Up” festival, which features Christmas Caroling for voices & instruments, all at our favorite local brewery. We’ll also be inviting local vendors for a craft fair, judging your ugly sweaters, and more! Come hang out with Austin’s artists, and get into the holiday mood! Details will be announced in fall.

MINI PROJECTS

MeSSIAH: PART 1

WITH CENTRAL TEXAS PHILHARMONIC
Sunday, December 22, 2024 - Klett Center for the Performing Arts

We will be accompanying CTP in their performance of Messiah: Part 1. This is a condensed project with single rehearsals periodically throughout the fall. Singers should be comfortable learning their parts from practice tracks and music at home, as we will only rehearse a few times for this one. In other words, while all are welcome, this project may be challenging for beginners. The dress rehearsal and performance will both take place at the stunning Klett Center in Georgetown under the direction of Maestro Stefan Sanders! Registration will open in September.

RAVEL & DEBUSSY

WITH CENTRAL TEXAS PHILHARMONIC
Sunday, May 4, 2025 - Klett Center for the Performing Arts

CTP will also host us for a spring concert featuring Ravel’s Daphnis & Chloe (Suite No. 2) and Debussy’s Nocturnes. Both pieces feature wordless-choir, and are accessible to singers of all skill levels. We will be learning these pieces on a condensed schedule (4 rehearsals in March), then polishing them on two Saturdays (one in April, one in May) before performing them in Georgetown on May 4. Registration will open in January.

Directed by Juli Orlandini, Panoramic Voices is an adventurous choral collective that thrives on a “music without borders” approach to music making. With collaborations spanning all genres from classical, country, rock, hip hop, and beyond, PV has worked with a dizzying array of artists such as Mobley, Roky Erickson, Carson McHone, Calliope Musicals, Zeale, and Grammy Award-winners Roomful of Teeth. The commissioning of new works has also been an important part of Panoramic Voice’s mission, resulting in the premiere of compositions by Pulitzer Prize-winner Caroline Shaw, Wilco’s Glenn Kotche, Austin luminary Graham Reynolds, and many more.

The ensemble has been widely recognized for its artistic endeavors, including “Best Choral Performance” from the Austin Critics’ Table, a cover story on Chorus America’s “The Voice” magazine, and regular listing among the Austin Chronicles “Top 10 Treasures.” In 2014, the Austin Chronicle dubbed Brent Baldwin (Panoramic Voice’s past Artistic Director) “Best Choral Wrangler” in its “Best of Austin” awards. The Austin American Statesman has hailed the group’s work as “always adventurous.”

In service to the greater Austin arts community, Panoramic Voices regularly partners with charitable organizations like the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM), SIMS, and Kids In a New Groove (KING) to provide support to the well-being of Austin artists.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Our mission to provide exceptional choral experiences—free of traditional financial, emotional, and logistical boundaries—requires a whole lot of time, energy, and staff! Your support helps us provide FREE services to all who want them! Please consider a gift of any size to Panoramic Voices, and support “music without borders” in Austin, Texas!
