REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!
Generation Alpha is filled with change-makers who are hungry to make a positive impact on the world around them. Pano’s youth choir provides singers in 6th-12th grade with a vibrant and affirming space for choral singing, allowing them to connect with singers from a wide array of backgrounds. We meet each singer where they’re at, and explore the community building power of our voices united. In this Beta season of our project, our hope is that each singer who joins will have a hand in guiding Pano Youth Choir, helping determine its future and the role that it plays in the wider Pano community!
WHO
Singers in 6th-12th grade with treble, changed, or changing voices! (Singers falling outside of this age range will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. Contact us at youth@panoramicvoices.org.) No auditions are required to participate in Panoramic Voices!
WHEN
REHEARSALS: Tuesdays from 5:30-7pm beginning on January 14, 2025
PERFORMANCE 1: May 9, 2025, 7pm — “Deep Breaths”
This program—the inaugural Pano Youth performance—will explore revitalization through fresh air, fresh ideas, and fresh works. As we listen to the voices of the youth, may their unclouded perspective be refreshment for us all.
PERFORMANCE 2 (TBA): EITHER May 31 & June 1 or June 7 & 8
Pano Youth will be invited to perform with the adult Panoramic Voices ensemble for one of the above two performances. We are working on a potential LARGE gig, and will have concrete details soon. Either opportunity would give young singers the chance to perform to a packed house, a 150-voice adult choir, and a large professional instrumental ensemble. We will announce the second performance by December 2024 but please mark both weekends down, and contact us at youth@panoramicvoices.org if you have a conflict.
WHERE
All rehearsals will take place at University United Methodist Church (2409 Guadalupe St). Concert location will be announced with registration.
HOW MUCH
Singer fees are $185, and should be paid by December 31, 2024. (The $185 total cost breaks down to <$10 per rehearsal with $35 towards sheet music.) We believe that cost should never be a barrier to participation and will work with singers for whom the participation cost is prohibitive—scholarships will be offered on a case-by-case basis.
All information is included as part of the registration, including the exact rehearsal dates/times. If you still have questions after you’ve read through the link above, please contact us at youth@panoramicvoices.org.
AV is a maker of joyful noise in Austin, TX. They are a graduate of Texas State University, (Master of Music in Choral Conducting), and Arizona State University (Bachelors of Music in Music Education).
Singing is a human right, and every person deserves access to music making opportunities that help them feel empowered, essential, and worthy. In their travels, AV has had many opportunities to create music with young people. They taught middle and high school choirs in Austin and Leander ISD from 2015-2019, directed the Texas State Treble Choir during their masters work in 2019-2020, served as the Assistant Conductor of Illumine Youth Choir from 2019-2024, and continue to lead youth and children's ensembles in their position as Music Director for University United Methodist Church, Austin.
Their calling is to create accessible art, and it is a delight of alignment to lead a youth choir under the expansive and inclusive umbrella of Panoramic Voices.
Directed by Juli Orlandini, Panoramic Voices is an adventurous choral collective that thrives on a “music without borders” approach to music making. With collaborations spanning all genres from classical, country, rock, hip hop, and beyond, PV has worked with a dizzying array of artists such as Mobley, Roky Erickson, Carson McHone, Calliope Musicals, Zeale, and Grammy Award-winners Roomful of Teeth. The commissioning of new works has also been an important part of Panoramic Voice’s mission, resulting in the premiere of compositions by Pulitzer Prize-winner Caroline Shaw, Wilco’s Glenn Kotche, Austin luminary Graham Reynolds, and many more.
The ensemble has been widely recognized for its artistic endeavors, including “Best Choral Performance” from the Austin Critics’ Table, a cover story on Chorus America’s “The Voice” magazine, and regular listing among the Austin Chronicles “Top 10 Treasures.” In 2014, the Austin Chronicle dubbed Brent Baldwin (Panoramic Voice’s past Artistic Director) “Best Choral Wrangler” in its “Best of Austin” awards. The Austin American Statesman has hailed the group’s work as “always adventurous.”
In service to the greater Austin arts community, Panoramic Voices regularly partners with charitable organizations like the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM), SIMS, and Kids In a New Groove (KING) to provide support to the well-being of Austin artists.
