2023 Singer registration:

“In THE ALCHEMIST’S GARDEN”

LADY BIRD JOHNSON WILDFLOWER CENTER

We are thrilled to continue our season with an immersive choral experience in collaboration with the Wildflower Center as part of their Luminations exhibit. This large-scale light installation is an Austin classic every winter, and we will perform music written specifically to compliment the “ELEMENTS” theme of the show. Music will be 80% new—written for us by local composer James Tecuatl-Lee—with a smattering of complimentary choral pieces. All music will be performed outdoors as part of the light show.

We will also perform excerpts from In the Alchemist’s Garden as part of the Wildflower Center’s WINTER SOLSTICE celebration on Thursday, December 21.

THIS PROJECT IS LIMITED TO 140 SINGERS DUE TO SPACE LIMITATIONS. When we hit capacity, we will start a waitlist, from which we will pull singers as others drop.

Please look at the rehearsal schedule below before registering. We will have several non-Thursday rehearsals for this project. As always, we are willing to be flexible with attendance where communication is clear.

ALL ARE WELCOME. No auditions, no participation fees beyond purchasing music (a fee that we are happy to waive for those who require assistance!).

All rehearsals will be held at Northwest Hills United Methodist Youth Center (7027 Hart Ln, Austin, TX 78731) unless otherwise noted.

  • REGULAR THURSDAY REHEARSALS•7 - 9 pm: Nov. 2, 9, 16, 30; Dec. 7

  • TUESDAY REHEARSALS•7 - 9 pm: Dec. 5, 12

  • SATURDAY REHEARSALS•9 am - 12 pm: Nov. 11, 18; Dec. 9 (Wildflower Center)

  • DRESS REHEARSAL: Thursday, Dec. 14, 6pm-8:30 pm, WILDFLOWER CENTER

  • PERFORMANCES: Saturday, Dec. 16: 6-9 pm; Thursday, Dec. 21, (evening time TBD)

  • FEES: Panoramic Voices does not require you to pay to perform, but we do ask singers to purchase their own music. We also will ask you to buy a t-shirt to wear during some of our performances. If either of these presents a financial hardship, please let us know and we can make arrangements on a case-by-case basis. Sheet music and t-shirts can both be purchased through the singer resource page, which you will gain access to after registering.

  • REHEARSAL TRACKS: We will provide rehearsal tracks for practice at home! These will be available a couple weeks after the start of rehearsal (as music is still being written for us).

  • ATTENDANCE: We request that singers miss no more than 2 rehearsals for this project. Additional absences should be discussed with Juli prior to registering. We’re happy to be flexible as long as there is clear communication!

  • NEXT STEPS: Once you register, you will receive a confirmation email (within two weeks) with access to the singer resource page, where you will have access to all information regarding this concert as we finalize it. Because we are opening registration on the week of our Folk Yeah! concerts, we ask for your patience as we get those details posted. Thank you!
